Microsoft Fabric & Synapse Reporting

Microsoft Fabric & Azure SynapseATX AnalyticsTable connects to Microsoft Fabric and Azure Synapse Analytics with Microsoft Entra ID, so the warehouses and lakehouses your organisation builds on Azure can be queried, charted and scheduled from a familiar grid — with each user's own permissions where you want them.

What you can do

Fabric Warehouse, Lakehouse SQL analytics endpoint and Fabric SQL database, plus Synapse dedicated SQL pools and serverless — the endpoint type is read from the host
Paste the SQL connection string host, the JDBC URL or the ADO.NET string the portal shows
Microsoft Entra ID sign-in with a service principal, managed identity, Azure CLI, the default credential chain or an access token; SQL logins on Synapse
Read-only intent routes reads to a replica where the service has one
Large results are loaded page by page, including on Synapse, which has no OFFSET … FETCH
Export into a Fabric Warehouse or a Synapse dedicated pool; dashboards, PDF reports and scheduled refresh over Fabric and Synapse data

How to connect Microsoft Fabric & Azure Synapse

Copy the SQL connection string from the Fabric item or Synapse workspace.
In ATX AnalyticsTable open Settings → Connections, add a Microsoft Fabric / Azure Synapse connection and paste it.
Enter the warehouse, lakehouse or database name — and set the endpoint type to tell a Lakehouse from a Warehouse, which share a host.
Choose the Entra ID mode — a service principal or managed identity for servers, Azure CLI on a developer machine — and give that identity access to the workspace or item.
Press Test Connection, then query, pin and schedule as with any other source.

Security and governance

Always encrypted, always verifying the server certificate
Entra ID only on Fabric — no SQL logins and no Windows sign-in
With on-behalf-of turned on, every Entra mode except user name and password runs queries as the signed-in person, so workspace and item permissions apply per user
Lakehouse SQL endpoints are read-only, and Export refuses them by name rather than failing half-way

Availability

Database and warehouse connectors are counted per workspace: three on Corporate PRO, five on Corporate Advanced and Advanced Plus, unlimited on Corporate Unlimited, and every connector on Free and Individual.
