The METRIC() formulaA governed number in one cell: =METRIC("revenue"), =METRIC("revenue", "region", "EMEA"), cell references as values, and arithmetic around it — evaluated on the server in one batch. METRIC is a sheet function that returns one governed value. It is evaluated by the server, like the _SQL functions, and its result is put back into the formula — so the rest of the formula is ordinary grid arithmetic.

METRIC needs a measure as its first argument, e.g. =METRIC("revenue") or =METRIC("revenue", "region", "EMEA").
After the measure, METRIC takes pairs: a dimension, then its value — =METRIC("revenue", "region", "EMEA").
METRIC cannot read the argument … : use quoted text, a number or a cell such as C2R5.
