Before a definition is certified, the compile check proves it runs on its database without reading a row; metric tests assert that its NUMBERS are right — six test types with examples, running and scheduling them, the badge, and the switches that make either block certification. Two safeguards live in the Checks & tests panel of every semantic object. The CHECK proves a definition compiles: every query it takes part in is parsed, bound and type-checked by its own database, without reading data. A METRIC TEST proves a number: revenue for 2025 is 4.2 million within 0.5 %, or the orders table was loaded today. The check runs automatically when certification is requested or granted; tests run when you ask, on a schedule, and optionally at certification.
