Syntax, arguments and examples for every function in the Lookup & Reference category. Formulas start with =. Cells are addressed by column and row, for example C3R5 (column 3, row 5); a range such as C3R1:C3R10 runs down a column. Type a formula into a cell, or into the formula bar (Functions → Formula Bar → Formula Bar). Searches for a value in the FIRST column of a table range and returns a value from another column in the same matching row. The lookup value must be in the first (left-most) column of the table — the table is anchored on that column. Runs on the grid engine (not pushed to SQL); for database-side lookups use a JOIN in a query.
