Running totals, year-to-date and month-to-date figures, rolling windows and period-over-period comparisons defined ONCE as governed calculated members — the fields, worked examples, the rules for periods, and the limits. A time-window metric is a calculated member that applies a window to ONE base metric along a date dimension. There are two types: cumulative (a running total, optionally over the last N periods or restarting at each year or month) and offset (the value N periods earlier, the difference from it, or the change as a fraction). Because the window is part of the definition, "revenue YTD" or "revenue vs last year" is computed the same way in every chart, METRIC() cell, pipeline, alert, API call and Ask Greg answer.
